PATIENT INFORMATION WHEN CALLING GRAMERCY PARK PHYSICIANS

General office procedures for speaking with your physician regarding results, referrals, prescriptions and the usage of our voice mail system!

When using the voice mail system, you can press the appropriate extension at any time. In order to best serve our patients, we would appreciate your cooperation in the utilization of this system. We have designed the system to give you prompts and instructions so as to assist you in leaving us messages, etc.

If you have an emergency and need to speak with your physician, Press 1. Please understand that your physician may be with other patients and unless it is a true emergency, the examination will not be interrupted.

If you are calling for an appointment, Press 4.

If you are calling for lab results, referrals or for non-emergent mdeical conditions or questions, Press 5. This allows you to leave a message. Please leave the message with your complete name, spelled out, telephone number, and the nature of your request. Lab results and referrals require us to retrieve your medical record and therefore you should understand that we will not be able to give you your information or referral without your chart.

We require 24 hours notice for all referrals. If it is not an emergency, 48 hours is preferred.

For referrals, the following information must be left: name, (spelled out completely); insurance information; primary care physician; phone number; reason for referral (i.e., rash, knee pain, mole, etc.); name of specialist, if known; type of specialist; and how you would like to get the referral (pick up or mailed). Referrals will no longer be faxed. Too frequently the receiving office does not get the fax and it causes confusion and double work for both the patient and our office. We are happy to mail out or hold referrala at our front desk for you to pick up. If you wish the referral to be mailed, please provide us with a complete address.

Our physicians make every attempt to return calls the same day they are recieved, but at times this is not possible. Please give us 24 hours to return all non-emergent calls.

We apologize if the system imposes a hardship on our patients, but we find it necessary in order to keep up with the demands of our practice. This will allow Gramercy Park Physicians to continue to provide you with quality medical care which is efficient and appropriate.
